Why now

Hail up to 2.00 inches hit Edgerton on September 15

The National Weather Service logged seven hail reports for Edgerton in 2026. Six of them came in ten minutes on the evening of September 15, from 5:58 to 6:08 PM, and ran from 1.00 to 2.00 inches.

The largest, 2.00 inches, was filed at Edgerton itself at 6:08 PM. One of the others was observed on Interstate 35 near the Miami and Johnson county line. The seventh report is older: 1.00 inch in Edgerton on the evening of March 10, with a photo and a time provided.

Dents do not settle out on their own. The only thing that changes while you wait is how long you have been driving a dented car.

The damage

What that size of hail does to a car

At 1.00 inch the size chart says quarter, at 1.25 half dollar, at 1.50 ping pong ball and at 2.00 hen egg. Edgerton had a report at each of those four sizes.

Hail lands hardest on the flat, horizontal panels: hood, roof, trunk lid. Most owners do not see the full extent in daylight. It shows up under a low, raking light, which is why the inspection happens in person and not over photos.

Paintless dent repair works the metal back from behind the panel. When a panel qualifies for it, the factory paint is never touched. How paintless dent repair works.

Insurance

We handle the insurance side with you

Hail repair on a vehicle is handled through your auto insurance claim. That part is the same everywhere. What changes is who does the work of it.

You open the claim, because only the policyholder can. After that we document the damage, send the estimate, deal with your adjuster and file the supplement when the first estimate misses damage. You hear from us at every step rather than chasing anyone.

How a hail insurance claim works, step by step

Questions about your specific claim or policy? Bring them to the inspection. Every policy is a little different, and that is a conversation about your car, not a paragraph on a website.
